What is Lip Filler?
Lip fillers are dermal fillers specifically designed for use in the lips. While other dermal fillers for different parts of the face may need more thickness and firmness, lip fillers must remain flexible, soft, and provide volume without hindering the natural motion of the lips. The most popular lip fillers contain a molecule called hyaluronic acid. This molecule occurs naturally in the skin and attracts moisture. This provides rapid results as the hyaluronic acid pulls in moisture to both hydrate and volumize the area.
Lip fillers continue to increase in popularity as formulas designed just for lips come onto the market. These newer formulas avoid lips that look too firm or lack their natural softness. Lips look natural but more defined and with soft, flexible fullness. In the hands of an inexperienced practitioner, the results may not look like you wanted, but in the hands of our Nurse Injectors, you will discuss your expectations before the injections so you get the results you want.
How Do Lip Fillers Work?
The body contains a form of hyaluronic acid, but in lip fillers, this material comes in special arrangements of molecules to make it more flexible and softer than other types of fillers. Each area of the face requires a filler with different viscosity and sturdiness, and lips require the thinnest, softest filler with the most natural motion. Manufacturers have been improving on their lip filler products, which means you have more choices available and can achieve better results.
The new formulas from Juvederm® and Restylane® are still made of hyaluronic acid but in new and more refined forms. When injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid molecules provide immediate plumping. They also begin attracting moisture, which will continue to plump and enhance the area. Treatment by our experienced Nurse Injectors makes sure your lip filler injections enhance the right areas to give beautiful fullness that still looks like you.
What Types of Lip Fillers Are Available?
Three popular brands of hyaluronic acid fillers, Juvederm®, Restylane®, and RHA Collection offer one or more formulas designed specifically for the lips. These fillers have similar but not identical properties, and your FACE Skincare~Medical~Wellness team will guide you through which lip filler will give you the best results.
Juvederm Volbella®
This lip filler uses a specially formulated filler technology by Allergan called VYCROSS®. This formula gives it extra lasting power while maintaining its smooth lip-enhancing properties. The texture of Juvederm® tends to be slightly different from Restylane®.
Restylane® Refyne
This filler not only enhances your lips but also addresses nasolabial folds and marionette lines, the fine lines around your mouth that can make you look and feel older than you are. It provides the flexibility needed for use in the lips while still being able to lift lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
Restylane® Silk
Approved for use in the lips and for the fine lines around the mouth, this filler provides softer, fuller lips that still look natural and have all their natural range of motion. This filler was the first FDA-approved for use specifically in the lips.
Restylane® Kysse
This lip-enhancing formula contains a proprietary arrangement of hyaluronic acid molecules for an especially smooth, soft pout with plenty of subtle but noticeable volume. People love the results, which look natural but also beautifully enhanced.
RHA® Collection of Fillers
FACE Skincare~Medical~Wellness is proud to be one of the select practices to offer RHA® fillers. Offering the longest HA chains on the market, these fillers mimic the natural HA that we produce! These fillers also have more HA per vial than most other fillers, making them incredibly effective.
At FACE Skincare~Medical~Wellness, we offer a wide variety of injectable fillers to address almost any imaginable area of the face. Like those listed above, some have been designed for the lips, but you may also consider dermal fillers in other areas of the face to lift lines and wrinkles, restore lost volume, or enhance contours.
