What You Need to Know Before Getting Threads
Remember: Not all threads are created equal.
My favorite ones to use at FACE are MINT PDO threads. They’re robust barbed threads and the ONLY dual FDA-cleared thread to lift the skin and the only thread with clearance to decrease the depth of nasolabial folds.
I also love to use the small sugar threads. These are smaller smooth threads that are used primarily on smaller areas of the face and neck.

Combination with Other Aesthetic Treatments
PDO thread lifts can be combined with other treatments to enhance results. Many patients choose to pair PDO threads with Botox injections to relax wrinkles around the forehead or eyes. This combination helps achieve both lifting and smoothing effects.
Dermal fillers, like Restylane or Sculptra, can also be used alongside PDO threads to restore lost volume, particularly in areas like the cheeks or lips. This gives a more youthful and fuller appearance while the threads work to lift sagging skin.
Some patients opt for laser treatments or chemical peels after their thread lift to improve skin texture and tone. These treatments can enhance the overall outcome by addressing surface-level skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, or pigmentation.
PDO Thread Types and Their Benefits
There are different types of PDO threads, each designed for specific needs. Barbed threads are commonly used for lifting sagging skin. These threads have small hooks that grab onto the skin, providing more structure and a stronger lift.
Smooth threads, on the other hand, are used for smaller areas that need tightening but not necessarily lifting. They help stimulate collagen in areas like the neck, under the eyes, or fine lines around the mouth.
Another option is sugar threads, which are smaller and dissolve quicker. These are often used for areas like the lips or neck to create a subtle lift or smooth lines.
Choosing the right type of thread depends on your skin’s condition and the areas being treated. A skilled doctor will recommend the best option for your specific needs.
Ideal Candidate Criteria
PDO thread lifts are suitable for people who want to lift and tighten sagging skin without undergoing surgery. Ideal candidates are usually in their late 20s to mid-40s with mild to moderate skin laxity.
This treatment is particularly effective for those looking to improve the jawline, cheeks, brows, and neck. However, it’s not recommended for people with excessive loose skin, which may require a surgical facelift.
People with good skin elasticity and realistic expectations tend to get the best results. Those with certain health conditions or severe skin sagging should consult their physician to explore other options.

Cost and Pricing Information
The cost of a PDO thread lift can vary depending on the areas being treated and the number of threads used. On average, the price ranges from $1,500 to $4,500 in the U.S. Smaller areas, like under the eyes or brow lift, may cost less, while larger areas, such as the lower face or neck, can be more expensive.
Additional factors that affect pricing include the clinic’s location, the expertise of the doctor, and whether the procedure is combined with other treatments like Botox or fillers.
Since this is a cosmetic procedure, it is not typically covered by insurance. It’s best to consult your provider to get a clear estimate based on your needs.
