The Ultimate Collagen Induction Therapy

Dermapen® is of the latest techniques in microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). CIT is a great way to achieve renewed skin with the effects of a fractionated laser, but without the downtime, or expense. Great for every ethnicity, this revolutionary treatment can help most skin abnormalities, in just a few 30 minutes sessions!

What is Microneedling?

Dermapen® is a top of the line microneedling device that works to stimulate collagen production and leave your skin looking better than ever. As the Dermapen® stamps over your skin, it creates micro-point punctures in the skin, the majority of which are simply pushing your pores open temporarily. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. Your skin reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process. The result is smoother texture and younger-looking skin.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Nearly anyone with any skin type is a candidate for microneedling. Collagen Induction Therapy is especially effective for aging concerns such as wrinkles, crows feet, lines, folds, and pigmentation. Because collagen is produced, texture, acne scarring as well as other scars, and stretch marks will also improve from treatment.

Contraindications and precautions include; keloid or raised scarring; history of eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic conditions; history of actinic (solar) keratosis; history of Herpes Simplex infections; history of diabetes; the presence of raised moles, warts or any raised lesions on targeted area. Absolute contraindications include; scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities; Rosacea and blood clotting problems; active bacterial or fungal infection; immuno-suppression.

What is a Typical Treatment Like?

Collagen Induction therapy is performed safely using a sterile Dermapen® needle tip cartridge. In most cases, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to ensure comfort. After the skin is numbed, our Skin Management Experts™ gently move the Dermapen® over the skin to puncture the epidermis layers and create minuscule subcutaneous injuries. These microscopic wounds stimulate new collagen deposition which may last for up to a year, yet they close within less than one hour. The treatment is about 30 minutes.

What Results Will I See?*

Visible results can be seen after the first session, however, benefits of skin rejuvenation are fully seen after just 6-8 weeks following the procedure and improve further over time, up to a year. Generally, we recommend a series of 5 treatments, 2 weeks apart.

Is There Any Downtime?*

After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to mild to moderate sunburn. The client will also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24-48 hours, the skin will be completely healed.

There is no social downtime with this procedure. Many clients apply makeup after and go out, as it is not noticeable in most cases once makeup is applied. If it is a more aggressive treatment, then there may be more redness and swelling. We recommend waiting one week after BOTOX® Cosmetic. For fillers, we suggest waiting for 2 weeks after as to avoid any inflammatory reaction.

Side effects experienced with the Dermapen® will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching, tightness of the skin. Our Skin Management Experts will use special serums and creams to help reduce Erythema, swelling, itching, and discomfort and also enhance results.
