What is a MicroLaserPeel®?

It is an epidermal laser peel that precisely removes a thin layer of skin to a selectable depth. MicroLaserPeel® is an advanced clinical method to improve skin texture, tone, and luminosity, and is easily customizable to each patient’s individual goals. Because only a thin layer of skin is removed, healing times tend to be very rapid.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You are a good candidate for MicroLaserPeel® if you struggle with lines and wrinkles, age spots, scars, acne, keratosis, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, texture, or pore size. Most areas of the face and body can be treated.

What is a Typical Treatment Like?

The MicroLaserPeel® procedure uses a laser wavelength that is preferentially absorbed in the water of the epidermis. The laser instantaneously heats the water to a high temperature causing it to vaporize or ablate the skin. Ablating the top layer of the epidermis removes old, tired-looking skin and depending on depth, will remove some light blemishes such as sunspots and pigment irregularities. During the healing process, new healthy cells re-grow, generally improving the overall appearance of the skin.

Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts less than 10 minutes. The amount of discomfort varies from person to person and depends on the depth of treatment. Very light treatments are often tolerated with no topical anesthetic at all. Deeper treatments may require a topical anesthetic, which will make the treatment very tolerable. The MicroLaserPeel® is also a great preparatory and adjunctive treatment to other treatments such as Secret™ RF microneedling or ProFractional™ laser.

What Results Will I See?*

Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most people notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture, and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-6 days. Depending on the amount of correction needed in the skin, many people may have as little as one session, but most do 2-3 treatments in a series, spaced 4-6 weeks apart for best results. If there is more correction needed, we recommend the Contour TRL™ or ProFractional™ Laser.

Is There Any Downtime?*

Immediately after the treatment, the skin will have a “frosty” appearance, that with hydration will turn red, resembling a mild sunburn. There will also be some mild swelling initially that will dissipate as the skin peels away over 3-6 days

Slight swelling may be present in the treated area; however, it usually subsides within a few hours to a day. Redness may persist for a few days, depending on the depth of the treatment, but should resolve fairly rapidly. It is important that you avoid sun exposure, especially while your skin is healing. If you must go outdoors, it is recommended that you cover your treated skin, wear a hat, and use a sunblock of SPF 30 or higher.

What is the difference between the NanoLaserPeel™ and the MicroLaserPeel®?

The NanoLaserPeel™ is a lighter laser peel than the MicroLaserPeel®. The NanoLaserPeel™ goes 4-15 microns deep, with 1-3 days of social downtime. The MicroLaserPeel® goes 15-50 microns deep, and has anywhere from 3-6 days social downtime, depending on the depth performed.
