What is Restylane^® Refyne?

As skin loses elasticity with age, the lines that run from the sides of your nose toward the corners of your mouth appear more noticeable. Restylane^® Refyne is a specifically formulated hyaluronic acid dermal filler made with XpresHAn Technology™ that helps correct smile lines (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corner of your mouth toward the chin (marionette lines) for a more natural look to your face. The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane^® Refyne is also designed to help support your natural expression—for real-life results that help maintain natural movement when you’re smiling, frowning and even puckering up, for your naturally best self.

What is a Typical Treatment Like?

Restylane^® Refyne is made with a flexible hyaluronic acid filler that uses XpresHAn Technology – creating gels that offer a wide range of flexibility and support. Like memory foam – this gel moves and molds with your natural movement and then returns to its natural shape – so it is ideal for the areas of the face where there is a lot of movement.

What Results Will I See?*

Patients can expect to see fuller lips and reduction of lines around the mouth. Results from Restylane^® Refyne can last up to 12 months after treatment. In a clinical study, subjects were evaluated based on the perception of the naturalness of facial expressions in motion after 1 month of Restylane^® Refyne and Restylane^® Defyne optimal treatment – 97% of subjects treated were satisfied with their results and would do it again, and 95% said they would recommend it to a friend.

There is no downtime associated with Restylane® Refyne.

How Does Restylane^® Refyne Compare to Other Fillers?

Restylane^® Refyne was approved for the treatment of moderate to severe (we prefer to see this as mild to moderate) facial wrinkles and folds, and Restylane^® Defyne for the treatment of moderate to severe, deep facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane® Silk and JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA^® XC are the only two products FDA-approved for lip enhancement and smoothing of wrinkles around the lips. However, Refyne has less swelling than either Restylane^® or Restylane^® Silk, and it will last longer than due to its structure. Restylane^® Refyne is best when we want a little more plumping, and Silk when correcting fine lines, especially around the lips for vertical lip lines.

Refyne has slightly more volume and more mobile than VOLBELLA^®. VOLBELLA^® is for subtle correction. Refyne will last a little longer (but both are indicated to last for up to 12 months) and it is a medium consistency (firmer) as opposed to a soft consistency like VOLBELLA^®. Refyne can give you a better shape for in the lips, however, it is not specifically FDA approved yet for the lips.
